A friend and I are heading out from Baltimore to watch the tour and ride a bit. Neither of us has done anything like this before, so I'd love some info on how it can work.
Can you ride on the route itself the day of the stage (well before or shortly after it ends, obviously)? Or are the roads closed to all but the racers?
What about intersecting roads? Could we feasibly plan a cycling route that would take us from, say, a stage's start point to it's feed zone so we could watch key bits of a stage but get some riding in ourselves on area roads?
Can anyone from MO recommend some bike clubs or shops that have posted cue sheets for area rides? (We'd especially love to check out some wineries, of course.)
